Paul Murray
Paul has over 25 years experience in the IT industry.
In a variety of
different roles. He’s worked for global manufacturers, consultancies and
resellers selling into multiple industries
in both the Large Corporate
and SME sectors.
Paul’s highly successful sales career has included 6 years at British
Olivetti and the first 11 of 17 years at Hewlett-Packard where he was
HP’s most consistently successful salesman from 1985 to1995.
In the last 10 years, Paul’s management career has included four years
as HP’s EDS Global Account Manager where he led a global account team of
three Regional Account Managers (Europe, Asia and Americas) with over 60
directly reporting and funded people. In 1999, the account achieved
record revenues of $320m by selling to and, via specifically developed
joint business plans, through and with EDS around the world.
Paul was HP’s European Solutions and Alliances Business Unit Manager
from 1999 to 2001, where he was responsible for building and developing
the System Integrator channel for HP in Europe by leading an
internationally dispersed management team of 12 managers with 80
directly reporting and funded people. In 2000 the business unit achieved
annual sales of $450m including $75m from solutions jointly developed,
built and marketed with the partners.
After leaving HP in 2001, Paul joined Diagonal plc as European Sales
Manager for the SAP consulting division and became M.D. of Diagonal’s
Information Security division, Diagonal Security.
Paul is particularly good at team building, partnership development,
change planning and execution. He employs a simple but powerful
methodology to help teams and their leaders in all industries build and
implement effective “breakthrough” plans. The process is particularly
effective for new managers and directors assuming new roles but helps
all leaders gain the buy-in and alignment of their teams – quickly.
He
is a member of the Institute of Directors and regularly mentors and
coaches business associates, former colleagues and employees from as
long ago as 1980.
He is a keen golfer, skier, football supporter and bridge enthusiast,
has one son and lives with his girlfriend in Cheshire.
